Styling neutrals with pops of color

I love an outfit with a strong color palette—especially one that plays with contrast. I went with classic neutrals to start and chose a rich brown knit as my base. I layered a button-up underneath, letting just a hint of it show, then paired everything with black trousers.

Styling tip: start with your neutrals first and build from there. Once that feels right, adding color becomes much easier and doesn’t feel like too much.

To bring in contrast, I added a kiwi-juice–colored cashmere piece over my shoulder, which gave the look a bold, fresh energy. I took it a step further with a butter-yellow bag—subtle enough to work with the palette, but still eye-catching.

What I like about mixing black and brown with brighter colors is that it keeps things interesting without feeling loud. When working with a palette like this, choosing elevated materials—like knits, cashmere, or leather, helps keep the look refined and polished, even when the colors are playful.

To finish things off, I kept the accessories sleek and minimal: a belt, sunglasses, and a pointed-toe boot to tie everything together.
