As the 1994 classic clocked another anniversary this week, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi, who played the feisty and adored Anna, revisited the film with a rush of gratitude, and a gentle reminder of why this Goan set romance continues to feel so lived in.
For Suchitra, the surprise is not that people remember the film, but that they still remember her as Anna with such immediacy. In an interview, she summed up the feeling plainly: “Well, obviously it gives me a lot of joy and I feel grateful for the love.”
That affection has also long been echoed by Shah Rukh Khan, who has repeatedly singled out Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa as one of his favourite films. The actor’s turn as Sunil, a well meaning mess of ambition, insecurity and sincerity, remains one of his most human performances, and arguably one of his most rewatchable.

She also reflected on why the film’s emotional honesty has kept it fresh across generations, because the story never tries to make its hero larger than life.
She additionally spoke about the role Kundan Shah played in shaping her experience. Suchitra credited the filmmaker’s mentorship and recalled their creative exchanges, adding that their professional equation eventually grew into a lasting friendship.
