Xbox gamers typically only get access to free games if they have a membership to Xbox Game Pass, which includes hundreds of excellent titles that subscribers can check out for free anytime. However, two new games were recently released for free to Xbox gamers, and you don’t need a Game Pass subscription to get them.
As part of Xbox’s Free Play Days promotion this week, there will be two great and highly anticipated games that Xbox members can download and play for free. Both The Sinking City Remastered and Marathon‘s official server slam are up for grabs this weekend for all Xbox users when they log in, no Game Pass required (via Xbox Wire).
Xbox Gamers Can Grab Two Free Games Now
If you’re an Xbox user, Free Play Days are an excellent ongoing promotion that lets players try out new games each week for a limited time. Often, this includes top-rated titles that are well worth checking out, and this week is no different.
For starters, as part of a global server slam test available for free on all platforms, Bungie’s highly anticipated multiplayer extraction shooter Marathon is available for free to all Xbox members. The Marathon server slam extends from now until Monday, March 2.
The second free game, The Sinking City Remastered, is a 2021 hidden gem that features a Lovecraftian-themed world with third-person gameplay, and is also available to download for a limited time until March 1. These two new freebies are well worth checking out this weekend if you’re looking for something new to keep you busy that doesn’t break the bank.
While both Marathon and The Sinking City Remastered are both free to play for a limited time for all Xbox members, there are also four new freebies available to check out if you have a Game Pass subscription as well. These include the following, which are available to play until Sunday, March 1:
- Anno 117: Pax Romana
- Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration
- STUFFED
- Moving Out 2
All four of these limited-time free-to-play titles offer fans of various genres something new to try out over the weekend. Anno 117 is a unique and highly recommended civilization simulation grand strategy game that fans of the Civilization franchise and/or Humanity will definitely want to give a gander.
STUFFED is a unique horror game where you play as a murderous teddy bear, and it features both single player and multiplayer options. The Atari 50 collection is an excellent release for retro game enthusiasts, featuring an “interactive journey through 50 years of video games.”
No matter your favorite genre of games, Xbox‘s free play event has something for everyone, and you’ll be able to peruse all of these titles for the remainder of the weekend.
